The village of Yvoire overlooking Lake Geneva
There are many arts & crafts shops which of course Win took full advantage of, along with a number of nice restaurants and a fine hotel (Hotel Yvoire du Port). We had lunch in a small and friendly restaurant, all choosing from the excellent savoury crepes menu - just enjoy these crepes
After lunch it was off to one of the many a local wineries. The variety in this region is Crépy. So of course when in France and at a winery, one must taste the wine.
After our wine tasting and discussion, we had a stroll to the vineyard and afterwards into the vat room where I also sampled some of the wine that had been fermenting in stainless steel vats for about 2 months, still some 6 months to go [apparently]. Michel bought some wines and later that evening presented a bottle to us, which we intend to bring back to Australia.
Beside the vines talking with the winemaker after our tasting. Ken, Win, Michel, and of course the winemaker who's name I have forgotten.
Sampling from the vat
On our way home after we had passed thru Geneva we could see that the clouds had lifted in the direction of Mt Blanc, so Michel headed up behind their village where we got a magnificent views of Mt Blanc.
What a perfect end to the day, to get a glimpse of Mt Blanc which had been hiding from us over the previous days.
This was our last tourist day in Switzerland and in fact our last sightseeing in Europe on this trip.
