We finally arrived in San Fran about midday on Tuesday 13 September, after the flight from LA was delayed by about 3 hours due to fog in SF, something that we were to learn more about.
The flight across from OZ was uneventful we left on time and arrived about 15 minutes early- getting to LA about 3 hours before we left Sydney, just the usual re-boot of the entertainment system, which doesn't unduly worry me these days, I have my eReader (as does Win), my MP3 player, and my iPad with downloaded videos, so it is just a matter of choosing the medium I want to use.
Tuesday afternoon did some sightseeing mostly from a car, (thank you Francis) and had a great meal at The Stinking Rose which boasts that it is a "garlic restaurant" and if you like garlic this is heaven.
As we started our tour around by car, it was a very sunny afternoon, with a brilliant blue sky however, as we headed toward the Golden Gate bridge, we started to go into some fast moving "cloud" cover which intensified and when we got to the Bridge it was covered in a thick fog. Apparently, this is pretty much an everyday occurrence on the bay. We did see glimpses of Alcatraz and got some shots as well. On the way to the restaurant we visited Lombard Street which is billed as the "crookedest street in the world", well it certainly is steep, and the crookedest is made as they decided to a series of hairpin bends along the entire steepest section which brings sightseers from everywhere - us included.
The top left image is of the restaurant we went to which is located in San Francisco near Chinatown.
So after the restaurant, home for some much needed sleep to get our body clocks into the current time zone as we need to be up early for our trip to Yosemite National Park
